Re: 1st True Brunchgate--Duke vs. Miami Social Topics
Ahh, but the after-game victory party can last longer! :happy-bouncyblue: :happy-bouncyblue: :9f: Seeing as I'm flying in for the Miami game, a victory over the 'Canes would be great. We beat Maryland last year when I flew in from Japan so I'd like to see the Blue Devils improve to 2-0 in games I'v...

Re: Breaking Down Army (Duke's 4th Opponent)
The over/under in Vegas is 56 so I'll take the over on that one:

Re: Breaking Down Army (Duke's 4th Opponent)
I'll take the under on 65. My prediction is Duke 34 - Army 27 for a total of 61 points.devildeac wrote:Any over/under guesses about tomorrow's game?
Points: I'll take the over on 65(combined, of course).
Any others?

Re: Breaking Down Army (Duke's 4th Opponent)
A quick fact: over the first three games we've rushed for 467 yards. Over the first three games of 2009, we rushed for 184 yards. That is a > 250 percent improvement. Desmond Scott and Josh Snead need to see more carries against Army and Maryland. These next two weeks are both must win games and I s...

Seriously... why no tipping in Japan? http://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g294232-s606/Japan:Tipping.And.Etiquette.html Is it because everything is so expensive already? Paging Bob Green. It is a waiter or waitresses job to serve you. They are paid by their employee to do their job. Tipping is not on...

Re: Japan... what do I do?
Weird thing you are NOT supposed to do here: As you walk down the street, you are not supposed to eat nor drink. You must stop; only then may you drink something from your bottled drink. You may not move and drink at the same time. Of course it is different when you live there for 17 years instead ...

The cons seem to be: 4) The EXTREME anal retentiveness Cheers, Lavabe Sorry, I forgot to warn you about that phenomenon. To the Japanese, there is a process for everything: step 1 followed by step 2 and then step 3 and so on and so forth...there can never be a step 2a or a situation where step 3 ne...

Re: Breaking Down Alabama (Duke's 3rd Opponent)
Bob Green has a great article on BDN looking at Duke's statistics so far, where they've gone right and where they've gone wrong. I hope you periodically update this as the season moves forward Bob. http://bluedevilnation.net/2010/09/taking-a-look-at-early-season-statistics/ Thanks for the props! Th...

Re: Breaking Down Wake
We have to successfully run the ball to beat Wake Forest. Here is an article from Al Featherston: http://www.goduke.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=4200&ATCLID=204990372 The advantage gained by running the ball is you can grind out long possessions, which keeps your defense off the field and fresh. ...

Re: Japan... what do I do?
One more thing I thought of, if you are out and about walking, checkout a department store (Seiyu,Seikaya) and head down to the basement. Most department stores have a grocery store in the basement and most of the grocery stores have an extensive selection of already cooked food. It is a nice option...

Re: Japan... what do I do?
Okay a few more things after reading the thread: 1. Natto sucks.... 2. 7-11, McDonalds, KFC, Ringer Hut, Yoshinoya are all food options. There are other convenience stores as well: Larsons, Am-Pm, etc... 3. Miso soup is delicious but looks like dirty dishwater to me. Don't let the looks put you off ...

Re: Japan... what do I do?
On Friday, I leave for an international conference in Kyoto, Japan. I have several immediate questions about Japan: 1) What do I eat? Warning: I am allergic to something in American sushi (something in California Roll; herring also causes problems); 2) Can I get by with English? 3) Is there anythin...

Re: Heels under the magnifying glass.
The Hitler video is hilarious. The Fayetteville Observer is reporting the three unnamed players who are in limbo to be linebackers Bruce Carter and Quan Sturdivant, and safety Deunta Williams.

Re: Breaking Down Alabama (Duke's 3rd Opponent)
Hey, Ozzie, was Pitt #1 in the nation when they played at WW circa 1972 when Dorsett was there? Coulda been as late as 1976. The game was Oct 2, 1976 as it was the last Duke game I attended before joining the Navy in December. Pitt was #2: http://www.databasefootball.com/College/polls/appol...

Re: Breaking Down Alabama (Duke's 3rd Opponent)
Mark Ingram had knee surgery and is out for Alabama's opening game. He is questionable for week two against Penn State and who knows after that:
