Re: 2010 Washington Redskins thread...

The older I get, the less interest I take in football (especially pro football), and my first love in sports, the Washington Redskins. Nevertheless, I tuned in last night. There is always something wonderful about beating the Cowboys. Woohoo!

I voted "keep" before reading the thread. I certainly wouldn't want Tilly to be uncomfortable.

Re: Favorite Hot Dog Stand

Bill's Hot Dog Stand I gotta support my town and this place is a Little Washington institution. I eat their dogs regularly. If you ever have one, you will either love it or hate it. I love it. Steamed bun, dog fried in lard, spicy hot white chili, onions and mustard (or any combination of the three...

Re: Post Ketchup and Mustard on your Wiener Talk Here

I believe the ice cream cone was first sold at that fair as well. Nope, the French were using them in the early 1800s. I think that was the invention of the waffle cone at that world's fair. Yeah, don't tell anyone from Norfolk, VA that the ice cream cone was invented by anyone other than the Douma...

From Johnboy's link. The subject of a whole book! http://www.chicagosbooks.com/images/ketchup_cover_big.jpg A Chicago hot dog, complete with blue-green relish. /:) Is that a freaking slice of cucumber on there, too? WTH? I know it's a Chicago dog but that's just not right. It's actually a pickle. O...

Re: Post Ketchup and Mustard on your Wiener Talk Here

The late great Pulitzer Prize winning columnist Mike Royko said it better than anyone: "No, I won't condemn anyone for putting ketchup on a hot dog. This is the land of the free. And if someone wants to put ketchup on a hot dog and actually eat the awful thing, that is their right. It is also their...

Re: Atlanta Braves 2010 Thread

Braves win, 9-3. Infante's average up to .343 with 2 hits and a BB for 5 plate appearances, Heyward with 4 hits, Farnsworth doesn't suck and Wagner (Billy, not Chris :D ) strikes out Francouer to end the game. Heyward's run (as in, the play in which he tagged home plate) was incredible. He made a g...

Re: Barbecue!

My friend Paul gets up, goes over to the tree, and starts looking in the ivy. Slowly, he reaches up, then with a quick motion, snatches a 'possum off the tree, and now he's swinging it around by the tail. The dogs are in a frenzy, jumping at the 'possum. The 'possum is hissing and trying to turn an...

Re: Barbecue!

You REALLY might be a redneck. Speaking of which . . . This past Saturday night, my wife and I attended our monthly supper club. Every summer, we have a pig pickin' by the river. The guys who cook the pig do an awesome job, and there's plenty of wonderful side dishes, beer wine, and liquor to go ar...

Re: Jokes

You would not believe how many times my dad's secretaries have typed "sinning" instead of "singing" in the church bulletin or newsletter. Fortunately, he caught most of their typos before the documents were printed. We heard about them at home. One of my favorite activities during a boring sermon (...

I listen when I'm riding in the car. I rarely listen to anything else in the car if I'm alone.

Re: Your favorite snacking apple

There was a person at one of the TED get togethers who was discussing the growing lack of biodiversity. Apparently at one point here in the US there were some 5,000(?) varieties of apples. There are significantly less now. While we're giving out apple facts, I recently read ( here in the sample you...
