Team health just became a major concern.
That's for sure. It's not a good thing when you've got two starters sitting on the bench comparing knee injuries.

Re: Duke Women's Basketball 2023 (10-5) (2-2)

Duke back to .500 in the conference with a tough road win today. Wasn't a thing of beauty, but it was a winner. :happy-bouncyblue: This team really needs practice in other facilities. We tend to completely forget how to shoot in games that aren't played in Cameron. I don't know if it's just nerves,...

Re: Duke Women's Basketball 2023 (9-5) (1-2)

27 Turnovers in tonight's horror show of a game vs Louisville. Only one player (Okananwa) in double digits. 33% shooting, the team overall looked clueless against the Cardinals defense. 61-44 was the final, and it wasn't that close. (Helped by a 4 point 2nd quarter) At the end of Q3, Duke had 23 TO...

Re: The Political Junkie Thread

But here is an interesting question: courts seem to be most likely to step in when they think that districting is diluting minority representation. As much as I am generally supportive of the goal of having minority representation in government, to be truly honest about things, race really should n...

How lovely. I loathe gerrymandering, no matter which side does it
You can't advocate gerrymandering and still love democracy. It is anti-democratic. Period. The End.

Re: Duke Women's Basketball 2023 (9-4) (1-1)

Wasn't pretty, but a win's a win, especially in conference play. Duke picks up their first ACC victory over Boston College. Duke 80- BC 75 is the final. Duke shot 57% from three and 68% overall. Duke also coughed up the ball 28 times, which is beyond terrible. Tania Mair (Transfer from BC) led with...

Re: Duke Football 2024 - Diaz Dawning

I’m also sad to see Trooper Taylor go. He has earned the huge bump in salary I assume he’s getting. Though he’s leaving for greener pastures, he did it in a far classier way than the former coach did. So very grateful for the way he led the team to a bowl game victory. I hope he got whatever bonus ...

Re: The ACC Grows to 18 Schools

FSU sues to GTFO. The Florida State board of trustees voted unanimously Friday to file suit against the ACC to challenge the legality of both the league's grant of rights and $130 million withdrawal fee, a necessary first step to plot its future and potential exit from the conference. "I believe th...

Re: The Political Junkie Thread

I hate gerrymandering but the Dems have to stop bringing a knife to a gun fight - fight fire with fire. It is a real shame that it keeps changing as there was a lot of drama in 2022 with how the districts were drawn where incumbents ended up with big overlaps (this happened in my district). I wish ...

Re: Duke Women's Basketball 2023 (6-4) (0-1)

We mainly lost the Davidson game on our own offensive end. Yes, our offense was dismal, but I was focusing on their three point shooting. An even 50%, 9-18. Clemson hit 11-18. Both of those games killed us from the arc, so I was happy to see us turn it around and shut down FGCU from outside. (Like ...

Re: Football Recruiting

Well, a coaching change wasn't going to only be sunshine and roses. I've been impressed so far with how Duke has managed the changes. We'll see going forward, of course, and there are no chickens, but thus far, it's been well-managed.

Re: Duke Women's Basketball 2023 (6-4) (0-1)

They are a team that just doesn't play in the mid-range at all, and get around 40% of their overall points from three. We held them to fewer than 20%, meaning that a team that normally hoists around 28 three-point attempts per game was able to get up just 12 against us. I sure wish we had figured o...

Re: Duke Women's Basketball 2023 (6-4) (0-1)

Really nice win today. Came out strong, faded in the first, and then found our footing for the rest of the game. Mair had 24 points and Okananwa had 18 (with 3 for 3 shooting past the arc). Final score 82-63 That was an excellent defensive performance, in particular. Kara had really sussed out what...

Truly inexcusable. The worst performance ever by a Lawson-coached defense. That isn't hyperbole.

Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is resigning from Congress and will leave at the end of this year, he announced in a Wall Street Journal op-ed on Wednesday — a highly anticipated decision that comes two months after his unprecedented ouster from the speakership. Duke bought themselves a well earned 15 point nosedive in the polls, now ranked 22nd.

Re: Duke Women's Basketball 2023 (5-2) Next VS South Carolina, 12/3 1PM

The women had cut the deficit to 3 but, according to a friend at the game, the officiating has been egregiously and dishonestly one-sided and full of bullshittery with PF 19-6 against Duke and FT 20-2, again, against Duke and Kara is demonstrably pissed. The score was tied 55-55 early in the fourth...

The game vs Georgia is at an odd time. 5PM, on SECN.
Yes, I wish it weren't quite so early in the evening. I might be missing the first few minutes.
